Rich History
Before we get stuck into the fun facts, we need to travel back to where it all began!
Did you know the Inn has previously been used as many other things, including a boarding house, a private dwelling, a factory for making bicycles and even a residence for chickens! We think you’ll find that we look quite different now….
The restaurant was once the coach house and stables of the original Coaching Inn back in 1608. Travellers rode on horseback to visit the Giant’s Causeway and rested with us after lengthy journeys through the vibrant Northern Irish countryside. Whiskey was as popular back then as it is now, and many visitors enjoyed the rich and original taste of
Bushmills Whiskey.
Secret Library
Who doesn’t want to stumble across a secret library? There’s something mysterious about hidden libraries and the one at
The Bushmills Inn is no exception. Browse our collection of books and read your favourite in front of the log fire with a glass of whiskey or a hot chocolate on a cold winter night.
And of course, you might want to take into consideration that the secret library would be perfect hiding place for a ghost! Keep your eyes peeled...
Hidden Nooks
With its rich history and many redevelopments over the years, it’s no surprise that you’ll find more than one or two hidden nooks and crannies when you’re exploring the hotel. Don’t worry, you won’t need a map for the exploration, but if you want to make a game out of it, you could always create your own little map and mark where you found the secret spots!
Flag Room
We have a grand collection of national flags in the Flag Room. Each day, we fly two national flags from our collection of over 300 to welcome the guest who has travelled the furthest to stay with us. It’s an old tradition at the Inn and one that our guests really appreciate. Who knows, maybe we’ll fly your home flag during your visit?
Still Room Cinema
If you’re in the mood for a quiet night in watching a movie in a boutique cinema, you’ve come to the right place.
The Still Room Cinema is a luxurious and intimate cinema that screens a variety of films including huge blockbusters and seasonal movies. You can also enjoy the full package, which comes with a 2-course dinner and some popcorn to enjoy with the film.
