Christmas 2009

Christmas Residents Programme 2010

Christmas Eve

Arrival

Arrive any time from 3pm. You will be welcomed and escorted to your luxurious room in the Mill House.

A welcome drink

Start the evening with a warming glass of mulled wine and mince pie in the Gas Bar. Mingle, should you wish, with your fellow guests or just sit by the fire in the bar or adjacent "old kitchen" and savour the occasion.

Dinner in the Restaurant

Gordon McGladdery and his team will deliver an innovative Taste of Ulster menu on your first evening - pace yourself. Linger late by the fires but be sure to be tucked up in bed before Santa arrives.

Christmas Day

Breakfast

To start the day try a glass of Bucks Fizz as you warm yourself in front of the blazing hall fire before breakfast in the Restaurant. Alternatively we can serve Bucks Fizz and a continental breakfast in your room. The choice is yours.

Reception & Lunch

Around midday we expect you will be ready for a glass or two of Prosecco served in the Gas Bar. Then lunch - a six course veritable feast of festive fare including, from the carving tables, haunch of venison, honey roast Ballymoney ham, roast stuffed Antrim turkey, prime rib of beef and Yorkshire puddings, braised carrots and parsnips, brussels sprouts, roast and creamed potatoes, cocktail sausages, caramelised apples and game chips.

The Queens Speech

As Her Majesty continues to insist on making her speech to the Commonwealth before we have all digested our lunch we again have been graciously granted permission to make recordings for later screening in the Pine Room accompanied with a cup of tea and a generous slice of Christmas cake.

Games

Monopoly, bridge and other games will be available in the Loft while the four open fires will be kept "generously turfed."

Supper

If you're up to it a buffet of hot and cold bites will be presented at The Innkeepers Table for your gastronomic enjoyment including smoked salmon, piping hot soup, chicken liver pate, cold meats and salads, and fine Irish cheese.

Classic Cinema

After Supper a classic movie will be featured in the Pine Room.

Boxing Day

After a late breakfast you are all welcome to take part in the traditional Boxing Day swim at Portballintrae or, weather permitting, skating on the River Bush!

For anyone surviving, a glass of hot Bushmills will be served ( for medicinal purposes only) on your departure.

New Years Eve 2010
Residential House Party

Plus evening before or evening after

New Years Eve

A Sparkling Reception

To officially start the evening a glass or two of bubbly will be served in the Gas Bar, the old kitchen or beside one of our roaring fires.

Gala Dinner

An extravagant seven course "Tasting Menu" featuring a carefully balanced selection of dishes each perfectly complimented with a range of wines will be served for your enjoyment in the Restaurant while you anticipate the musical delights and decide who will lead the festivities.

Entertainment in the Gas Bar

'A finer bunch of musicians you never did see'. Dick Glasgow and friends return by popular demand with some live (or nearly live) entertainment suitable for the occasion and revealing their impressive Scottish, Irish & international 'repertoire'. They are now an indispensable part of the festivities (their fame has spread even as far as Lisnagunogue). We expect them to start fiddling around 11 pm and to start fading at about 1.00 am. An odd glass of Black Bush might keep their spirits up.

New Years Day

The late breakfast from 9 'ish'

On return from your regular early morning jog you can enjoy a glass of Bucks Fizz before you start the year as you would like to go on - with a hearty cooked Breakfast.
